Middle School Student Advisory Board

Wanted: Middle School Student Advisors!

We’re looking for creative, thoughtful, opinionated middle school students from across the country to join our advisory board. Does this sound like the perfect gig for someone you know? If so, keep reading!

What is it?

The Middle School Student Advisory Board is made up of middle school students from across the country. Editors from three of Scholastic’s middle school magazines (Scope, Action, and Junior Scholastic) utilize the board to gain invaluable insight into students’ lives, which is then used to guide and enrich our articles. For example, we may email the board with:

  • An important poll about stress and anxiety
  • The opportunity to be interviewed for a thought-provoking debate about cell phone bans in schools
  • Fun one-off questions (for example, “Quick! What’s your favorite TV show?”)

Who is eligible?

Students in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8

What’s in it for students?

When students respond to at least five queries from editors throughout the school year, they’ll receive a $50 gift card. Plus, some students may have the opportunity to see their thoughts and opinions featured in an article!

How do students apply?

Download the application here. Pass it along to the parents or guardians of any interested students and ask those parents or guardians to complete it and return it to us at: [email protected].
