Learning Objective: to identify when to use less and fewer

Directions:

Read the hint below. Then read the blurbs that follow. Pick the correct word in each bolded pair.

Less or Fewer?

Use less with things that you do not count individually, as in
“My town got less snow this year than last year.”

Also use less for time, money, and distance, as in
“I live less than a mile from my best friend.”

•••••

Use fewer with things that you do count individually, as in
“There are fewer people here than I expected.”
