Here at Scope, we know how important it is to give your students articles and stories that will both fascinate and challenge them—to support their growth as readers and critical thinkers.
To help you easily understand how Scope will challenge your students, we provide a Lexile score for each article and story. But Lexile is only one measure—and often only tells part of the story. Some stories with a low-end Lexile might be incredibly challenging because of other factors that won’t show up in a score—factors such as themes, structure, a setting that will be unfamiliar to most students, and a challenging performance task.
That is why we also provide “complexity factors” for each article and story at Scope Online. You'll find them on each article page, just above the Lexile score.
