If you haven't checked out our Vocabulary Slideshow yet, you're in for a BIG treat! We debuted this slideshow two years ago after visiting classrooms and talking with teachers about the need for vocab support in a visual, interactive format. So we made one! And this year we've made it even better, with a fresh design and easier-to-use navigation.
Each slide in the Vocabulary Slideshow contains one word along with a student-friendly definition, example sentences, and a photo or video to support understanding. Each word and definition can also be heard pronounced aloud. Just press the blue button. I used to be a teacher, and when I was in the classroom, I found that the slideshow was a fantastic support tool for my auditory and visual learners and for my ELLs.
Share the Vocabulary Slideshow with students before reading an article to prepare them for the complex words and concepts they will encounter. Try the Vocabulary Slideshow for the September paired texts “How Pizza Conquered America” and “Sushi Takes Over."
